Safety taken seriously

Here at Wyedean Canoe & Adventure Centre LTD we take your and our safety very seriously.

We know the River Wye intimately. We know first-hand what mother nature is capable of and also the natural dangers that exist.

Before anyone gets near the river we give everyone a safety brief which covers:

  • How to paddle
  • What to look out for on the river
  • How to adjust your canoe if the wind picks up.
  • What to do should you capsize.
  • Where you can find our direct emergency contact number.

We have been operating as a family company since 1987. Both directors have extensive knowledge of the sports we provide, one of which is a Level 5 canoe and kayak coach with over 40 years paddling experience world wide.

We feel this knowledge and experience puts us in a good position to safely assess the ever changing river conditions to look after you and your party.

We use safety equipment that we know, personally have used and trust.

We are accredited by various governing bodies who help enforce some legislation that we have had the pleasure to assist in the creation of to help keep people safe in this great sport.

Our staff are not only highly qualified and experienced but also receive ever-ongoing training from ourselves. We are proficient in various rescue techniques and training, we also train the lie of the land along the river bank which is vital should an emergency situation occur.

Our greatest aid to safety is YOU the customers listening to our safety brief, enjoying the water responsibly and wearing the safety equipment you are provided with.
